Client: Design Exercise (School Project)

Visual perception plays an important role in the everyday life. Understanding what is being seen helps in designing and organizing visual information. Information coming from a place that it is least expected from tends to leave a longer impact. India was invaded various times by different dynasties. But every time it was invaded, a new food culture was born in the country. Various invasions bought in numerous ingredients and dishes along with them.  The aim of this project was to create a scenario which would make Indian’s realize the gift of food and to cherish and value it.  This table cloth serves a dinner party spread which helps in creating a conversation on the table while imparting very valuable knowledge.

The table cloth consists of six circles each of which requires a plate to be put on it. When the guests lift the plates to serve themselves, the hidden information underneath the plate is revealed. The information under the plate consists of the era that was in reign and the ingredients that came along. This leads to the exchange of information with other guests.
